Near-field monitors and headphone amplifiers voiced for a desk, not a living room, and measured individually before they ship.

What are you listening on?

Three pieces, each doing one job properly rather than several adequately.

Three things, in order.

The same sequence whatever you are starting from.

  1. Step 01

    Get the height right first

Tweeters at ear height, before anything else. It is free and it matters more than the speaker you buy.

  2. Step 02

    Decouple from the desk

A desk is a large flat resonator. Stopping it moving with the speaker cleans up the low mids immediately.

  3. Step 03

    Then worry about the amp

Once placement is right, headroom is the next thing you will hear. Not before.

The measurement plot for your unit is in the box.

Why Velden Audio exists

Velden Audio started from a straightforward frustration: desk speakers are sold on room measurements and then used at arm’s length, where those measurements stop describing anything. Everything here is voiced and measured at the distance it will actually be used, and ships with the plot to prove it.

Questions we get a lot

What is actually in the box?

The unit, its individual measurement plot, a power lead and the isolation pads. No cables you already own.

Are these studio monitors?

They are voiced flat, which is what people usually mean by that. They are tuned for near-field listening rather than a mixing room.

Will the A2 drive high-impedance headphones?

Yes. High-impedance headphones are exactly what its headroom is there for.

Where should the speakers go?

Tweeters at ear height, angled at your head, pulled away from the wall behind them if the desk allows it. The placement guide covers the awkward cases.

Do I need a separate DAC?

No. Both active pieces take a digital input directly.

What is the measurement plot for?

It is the response of the unit you received, not the model. If yours reads differently from the published curve, that is the conversation we want to have.

Where are they made?

Assembled and measured in the UK.
